One day in Kuta is enough, if you plan it properly. Here is how it runs from Natya Hotel Kuta.

Start early on Kuta Beach, while the sand is still cool. Walk the shoreline as the sun comes up, swim, or take a beginner surf lesson from one of the instructors already set up on the beach. Once you have dried off, have breakfast at a beachfront cafe and head to Beachwalk Shopping Centre for souvenirs and international labels.

Give the afternoon to the quieter side of Kuta. Vihara Dharmayana, the old Chinese temple in the middle of town, is a genuine pocket of calm, and the Bali Memorial Monument at Ground Zero is worth the few minutes it takes to stand in front of it.

Come evening, find the sunset — from a beach bar, a rooftop, or the sand itself — then eat. Seafood and Indonesian plates are the local strength.

Then it is back to the hotel. With the airport 10 minutes away and the beach at the end of the street, Natya Hotel Kuta suits exactly this sort of short, well-used stay.
