Legian Beach is one of the friendliest places in Bali to learn to surf, and it sits 10 to 15 minutes from Natya Hotel Kuta by taxi or motorbike.
The appeal is the beach break. Waves here are gentle enough for a first lesson but still hold enough shape to keep experienced surfers busy, and the sand is lined with surf schools renting boards and running lessons at reasonable rates. Legian carries the same golden sand and easy atmosphere as Kuta with noticeably fewer people on it, and the cafes and bars behind the beach are there when you come in.
The dry season from April to October brings the most consistent conditions. Early morning and late afternoon are the best windows — smoother water, thinner crowds, and a sunset session that is hard to beat.
Afterwards, the hotel pool, the restaurant and a central Kuta location handle the rest of the day.
